Cascades, Inc. inaugurates new paper mill in Oregon
Cascades, Inc. is a paper company that produces, markets, and converts paper and tissue products using recycled paper. The company has been in operation since 1957 and today inaugurated its new paper mill in the town of Scappoose, Ore. in Columbia county.
The $64 million facility will complement its sister facility in St. Helens–about a 15 minute drive away.
Oregon seems to be thrilled with the new addition. Business Oregon, an agency designed to help Oregon businesses grow, went so far as to provide Cascades with a $500,000 loan, forgivable if certain parameters (such as job creation) are met. Job creation is another reason they are happy. The facility will create more than 60 new jobs.
The new paper mill is more than 284,000 square feet in size, with possibilities for expansion in the future.
